Price Match Promise - helping you navigate the grey market jungle

We are a UK business, based in Repton, Derbyshire, and we sell to UK consumers under UK consumer law.

We regularly receive requests to price match retailers that appear to be UK-based - often using UK town or place names — but where the retailer’s own published terms indicate that the transaction is governed by non-UK law, structured via overseas entities, or otherwise not a like-for-like comparison to a UK retail purchase.

This page exists to help customers navigate a marketplace where the legal basis of a purchase is not always clear.

What we will price match

We will consider price matching where the retailer is clearly a UK-based retailer, selling UK-spec stock, and the transaction is governed by UK consumer law on comparable terms (product, condition, availability, delivery, warranty/support).

If you find a cheaper price from another UK-based retailer, please contact us and we will do our best to beat it.

What we do not price match (and why)

We do not price match retailers that:

- operate under non-UK governing law (for example Hong Kong law),
- act as a disclosed agent for an overseas seller, or
- do not clearly identify an active UK trading entity behind the website.

These are not like-for-like comparisons to a UK retail purchase.

The examples below are based solely on publicly available information and/or the retailer’s own published terms.

Examples (from retailers’ own disclosures)

Cotswold Cameras
Applicable Law and Venue: their website states that transactions are governed by the laws of Hong Kong.

SLR Hut
Their terms describe the business as an international consumer electronics sales company, with fulfilment channels and facilities located globally. The transaction is not clearly presented as a UK retail purchase governed by UK law.

Norwich Cameras
Their terms state that they act as a disclosed agent for Futronix Electronic Limited, Hong Kong, with purchases described as being made directly from the Hong Kong entity.

Seentat
Applicable Law and Venue: their terms state that transactions are governed by the laws of Hong Kong, with exclusive jurisdiction in Hong Kong courts.

CamerasDori
Applicable Law and Jurisdiction: their terms state that transactions are governed by the laws of Hong Kong, that legal proceedings must be brought exclusively in Hong Kong courts, and that the business operates from Hong Kong.

HDEW Cameras
Their terms state that they offer a sourcing service as a disclosed agent for Plemix, Hong Kong, describing purchases through that service as being made directly from the Hong Kong supplier, with HDEW acting as agent.

Next Day Deal
A company previously registered under a similar name is shown on Companies House as dissolved. The current website does not clearly identify an alternative active UK trading entity. As a result, there is no clear evidence of a UK retailer operating under UK consumer law.

Important notes

- Our Price Promise is a commercial policy, reviewed case by case

- We reserve the right not to price match where it is not commercially viable or where the comparison is not like-for-like

- A UK-sounding brand name or UK place name does not by itself indicate a UK retail transaction under UK consumer law
